Consent Management Required for Abandoned Cart

Written by Treez Support

Before Abandoned Cart can be enabled for Treez Loyalty, your ecommerce site must have a Consent Management Platform (CMP) in place. Your organization is responsible for choosing and configuring a CMP that meets its legal, privacy, and regulatory requirements.

Your CMP must let shoppers provide and manage their consent for marketing communications and related tracking, and keep a record of that consent. It must also pass each shopper’s consent status to the relevant marketing tags and scripts before abandoned cart data is captured or transmitted.

Consent Management Requirement for Abandoned Cart Messaging

  • Customers must have a Consent Management Platform (CMP) implemented on their ecommerce website before Abandoned Cart Messaging can be enabled.

  • The CMP must allow customers to provide, manage, and document consent for marketing/advertising communications and associated tracking technologies.

  • The CMP must be configured to pass the user's consent status to the applicable marketing tags/scripts before abandoned cart data is captured or transmitted.

  • Customers are responsible for selecting and configuring a CMP that meets their organization's legal, privacy, and regulatory requirements.

  • A CMP can typically be deployed through the customer's existing Google Tag Manager (GTM) container. For example, OneTrust supports GTM-based consent controls, and CookieYes provides a GTM template-based implementation.
