  2. The aren't just clever work-arounds, these are the fruits of cross-breeding the scale of Treez working with hundreds of retailers, and your real-world experience to create only the stickiest strains of best practices.


Before-Opening Best-Practices

Ensure devices having been charged

  • This should ideally be done at Store-closing.

  • The device should be charging from a direct power source (wall or power strip).

Warning:

Payment devices plugged into the POS, or other computers may not charge fully, and you risk battery degradation or not charging at all.

Check the device is connected to the internet

  • Check the device is connected via WiFi, or hardwired with Ethernet.

  • Check the signal strength. Low strength could be a router issue.

Important note:

If you WiFi network have a firewall, make sure the payment devices are allowed by your IT Administrator to join the network.

Check the device needs a software update

  • Some devices may need software updates to operate effectively.

  • Rebooting the device can trigger an auto-update is most cases.

  • If you still experience issues after rebooting, please reach out to [email protected].

Pro-tip:

It's recommended to charge devices at night, and reboot them all daily in the morning to ensure they are working properly, and remove/report any not working devices before customers arrive.

Check the device in logged into the “Payment App”

  • Check that the payment "app" is installed and logged in.

Important note:

Be sure to check the app required for various terminal as they can be different based on device, and the payment type it is supporting,

Ensure payment devices plugged in to charge

  • Check the device is plugged into a direct power source (wall or power strip).

  • Check for sounds, lights, or text on the device to confirm that it's charging

Warning:

Payment device plugged into the POS, or other computers will not charge fully, and you risk battery degradation or not charging at all.
