If you're encountering an "Expired Driver’s License" error while using the Zebra DS9308-DR barcode scanner in your POS system, follow the steps below to properly configure your scanner. This guide will help you output the complete raw AAMVA string, ensuring that date parsing issues are resolved.

Step-by-Step Configuration

Step 1: Select USB Keyboard HID

First, you need to configure your scanner to function as a USB Keyboard HID. To do this, scan the 'USB Keyboard HID' barcode from the DS9308 user manual.

Step 2: Enable PDF417 Symbology

Next, ensure that the PDF417 symbology is enabled by scanning the corresponding barcode from the manual.

Step 3: Turn Off Driver’s License Parsing

To prevent the scanner from parsing the driver's license data incorrectly, you must disable the driver's license parsing feature. Scan the 'No Driver’s License Parsing' barcode.

Step 4: Remove Code ID Prefix

Remove any Code ID prefix by scanning the 'Transmit Code ID Character → None' barcode.

Step 5: Add Enter Key After Scan

Finally, ensure that the scanner sends an Enter keystroke after each scan. To do this, scan the 'Add an Enter Key (CR/LF)' barcode.

Additional Support

If you continue to experience issues after completing the above steps, we recommend performing a test scan into a notepad application. Please send us the output for further troubleshooting, and our support team will assist you in resolving the issue promptly.
