We're making an improvement to the ecommerce BOGO (Buy One, Get One) shopping experience that better aligns with how discounts work in POS and gives shoppers a smoother purchasing experience.
This enhancement will be included in our next ecommerce release. Keep an eye out for our ecommerce release newsletter when it goes live for a full summary of everything included in the release.
What's changing?
Today, once a customer completes a BOGO promotion, the promotion UI remains in a completed state. While customers can continue shopping elsewhere, they can't easily restart the BOGO flow from the promotion experience—even if the discount is configured to allow multiple redemptions.
Beginning with our next release:
Customers will see a "Deal Complete" confirmation after completing a BOGO.
The BOGO tracker will automatically reset to the beginning of the promotion.
Customers can immediately complete the promotion again if the discount allows additional redemptions.
This creates a more intuitive shopping experience and matches the behavior customers already experience in POS.
Why are we making this change?
Historically, ecommerce intentionally limited BOGO promotions to a single completion because there wasn't a way to control redemption limits within discounts.
That's no longer the case. MSO Auto Discounts now support a Redemption Item Limit condition, allowing you to control how many times a promotion can be redeemed in a single order. When this discount condition is set, the discount will be applied at checkout, and not available on the promo-carousel or promotions page.
Why we're letting you know
We know promotions are an important part of your business, so we wanted to provide advance notice before this behavior changes. Our goal is to reduce shopper friction, create a more consistent experience across ecommerce and POS, and ensure there are no surprises when the update goes live.
This enhancement will be included in our next ecommerce release.
