Why Create Duplicate Product Cards

Treez does not allow you to convert an existing flower product card into a miscellaneous product card. Therefore, the safest approach is to create a new Miscellaneous product card for High THC items.

Benefits of this approach:

  • ✅ Correctly apply Illinois’ THC-based tax layers

  • ✅ Assign packages above 35% THC to a dedicated High THC product card

  • ✅ Keep the original product card available for lower THC batches

  • ✅ Set different pricing for high and low THC products

  • ✅ Maintain accurate lab result displays on your e-commerce menu

⚠️ Important
Illinois tax rules require different tax rates based on THC content.
For flower products over 35% THC, Treez must reference a separate product card so the correct excise tax applies.

Step 1 — Open the Product Catalog

  1. Go to Product Catalog in Treez.

  2. Click Create Product and select Miscellaneous Product.

  3. In a separate tab, open the Inventory Control page.

  4. Locate the inventory card for a high THC flower product.

  5. Click the linked product card to open the existing card.

  6. Copy the necessary details into your new Miscellaneous Product card.

Step 2 — Name and Categorize the Product

  • Name the Product:
Use a clear naming convention recognizable in the Purchasing Module:
“High THC - Circus Ring 3.5g”

  • (Optional) Add a High THC Tag:
Use tags for easier filtering and reporting later.

Step 3 — Configure Product Details

  • Set Package Size:
    Example: 3.5 grams

  • Leave “Total Mg THC” Blank:
Do not fill in the Total Milligrams of THC field for flower products.

    • This ensures lab results display correctly on your e-commerce menus.

  • (Optional) Add Net Weight:
Include net weight if needed for labels or reporting.

Step 4 — Set the Menu Title

  • Copy the existing menu title so products display consistently online.

  • (Optional) Add “High THC” to the title if you want it to show on e-commerce menus.

Step 5 — Assign Inventory Packages

Once the High THC product card is created:

  1. Open the Invoice Number from your Inventory Control page.

  2. Locate the relevant package.

  3. Reassign the package to the new High THC product card.

  4. Remember to filter for MISC product types to locate the new card.

Step 6 — Adjust Pricing (Optional)

You may set different pricing for High THC products to reflect their tax obligations:

Product Type

Example Price

High THC (>35%)

$45

Standard THC (<35%)

$40

This flexibility helps you maintain margins while ensuring correct tax application.

Best Practices

  • ✅ Always create a duplicate product card instead of editing existing ones.

  • ✅ Keep naming conventions consistent across product cards.

  • ✅ Use tags to track High THC products easily.

  • ✅ Leave THC milligrams blank for flower products.

  • ✅ Always verify your Illinois tax rates using Illinois Tax Rates by Cannabis Type.

Summary

Creating High THC product cards ensures:

  • Proper Illinois tax layer application

  • Accurate THC-based product pricing

  • Organized inventory by THC percentage

  • Consistent lab result displays on menus
