To support faster login and align with common POS practices, Treez now offers a new configuration setting that allows users to skip the POS user selection screen and access the POS using only a unique PIN.
Where to Find It
Go to Config Page > Point of Sale and locate the setting: Require only PIN
โFor maximum security, leave this disabled to ensure the PIN is verified against the specific user. Enabling it skips user confirmation, allowing any valid unique PIN to access the POS.
How It Works
Disabled (Default Two Step Verification):
User selects their name
Enters the PIN corresponding to their selected user to confirm identity
Enabled:
User is taken directly to the PIN entry screen
PIN must be unique and valid
If the PIN is not valid, access is blocked with the message:
โโPIN is expired. Please update your POS PIN.โ
Affected workflows
Sell Treez POS
Fulfillment - Selecting an action like Edit or Complete that redirects to the POS
In-app sales reports - Selecting a linked ticket ID that redirects to the POS
Reporting and Audit Logs
Even when user selection is skipped, Treez still attributes POS actions to the correct user based on their PIN. This ensures reporting accuracy and audit traceability.
๐ก Reminder: PINs must be unique and should be hard to guess to prevent unauthorized access. Encourage your team to update any weak PINs.
