🔁 What’s Changing?

Senate Bill 2748 updates the Mississippi Medical Cannabis Equivalency Unit (MMCEU) for concentrates and infused products. Flower product definitions remain unchanged.

🗓️ Before July 1, 2025

  • 1 MMCEU =

    • 1 gram of flower (e.g., dried flower, prerolls)

    • 1 gram of concentrate by weight (e.g., extracts, cartridges, infused prerolls)

    • 100mg THC infused product (e.g., edibles, beverages)

🗓️ Beginning July 1, 2025

  • 1 MMCEU =

    • 1 gram of flower (no change)

    • 1 gram of THC in concentrates (changed from net weight)

    • 1 gram of THC in infused products (previously 100mg)

What Does This Mean for Medical Patients?

  • Patients can purchase more THC in infused and concentrated products due to the revised equivalency.

  • Example:

    • Previously: 1g extract with 800mg THC = 1 MMCEU

    • Now: Same product = 0.8 MMCEU

🧠 What Dispensaries Need to Know

⚠️ METRC Compliance — Required July 1st

According to METRC Support Bulletin 157, dispensaries must ensure "Unit THC Content" is set on all concentrate-category METRC packages before any sales are made on or after July 1st.

  • Without this update:

    • Patient purchase allotments won’t deduct properly

    • You risk non-compliance and overselling

Who must update the data?

  • Processor License Holders must input the Unit THC Content.

  • This cannot be done by dispensaries unless they hold a processor license.

  • It must occur after July 1st, not before.

  • Processors have until July 8th to complete the Unit THC Updates on their METRC Items
