🔄 Determining Which Allotment Applies
Treez POS uses a package’s METRC-assigned inventory type (called “Items” in METRC) to determine which purchase allotment applies—Flower or THC Infused. The Concentrate allotment was deprecated as of July 1, 2025. This ensures purchase limits are applied consistently in both Treez and METRC.
⚠️ The Treez Product Type or Subtype does not determine the allotment.
🧮 Determining How Much Allotment a Patient Has Left
Treez checks a patient’s remaining allotment using the METRC Patient Status API at check-in, based on the State Medical ID in the customer's profile.
If valid and active, the remaining allotment is pulled into the Purchase Allotment popup for review and confirmation.
If the ID is invalid or the patient isn’t found, Treez will display a message. In that case, staff should:
Exit the popup
Correct the medical ID in the profile
Re-checkin the customer
If the METRC API is down, staff can log into METRC manually to verify and enter the patient’s remaining allotment directly in Treez.
🧪 Note: METRC tracks allotments in ounces, not MMCEU units. Treez mirrors this for consistency.
⚖️ Determining How Much of an Allotment Is Applied
Treez uses METRC data, Treez data, or both to calculate how much of a product applies toward the patient’s purchase allotment.
Where needed, a conversion rate is applied to express the amount in flower equivalents:
METRC Item Category | Type | Calculation |
Bud/Flower | Weight | Amount (Treez) |
Conc. Infused Pre-Rolls | Weight | Unit THC Content (METRC) |
Concentrate | Weight | Amount (Treez) × Unit THC Content (METRC) |
Concentrate (Each) | Count | Unit THC Content (METRC) |
Infused Edible | Count | Unit THC Content (METRC) |
Infused Flower | Weight | Amount (Treez) × Unit THC Content (METRC) |
Infused Non-Edible | Count | Unit THC Content (METRC) |
Raw Pre-Rolls | Count | Unit Weight (METRC) |
Shake/Trim | Weight | Amount (Treez) |
Shake/Trim (by strain) | Weight | Amount (Treez) |
Transdermal Patch | Count | Unit THC Content (METRC) |
Why Treez Sometimes Uses Treez Amount Instead of METRC
For most weight-based products, Treez uses the amount sold (weight) because METRC doesn’t define these by unit counts.
However, for infused flower and weight-based concentrates, METRC requires using the Unit THC Content multiplied by the amount sold. That’s because the Unit THC Content reflects THC mg per gram, not per unit.
For count-based items like edibles or patches, the Unit THC Content directly reflects the total THC per item, and that’s what Treez uses.
💡 This ensures purchase limit tracking remains accurate and in sync with METRC.
