SellTreez: Using the Automated Excise Tax Feature in Treez (California Only)

This article explains how to take advantage of Treez’s Automated Excise Tax feature for California Medical and Adult Use sales.

Overview

The Automated Excise Tax feature in Treez automatically updates California excise tax rates to specific Counties (for Delivery) and when changes are implemented. This automation only activates if the excise tax is named properly.

Note: Treez is not a tax advisory service - Please contact your local tax authority or a qualified tax professional to confirm the correct and compliant rates for your area.

Update Your Tax Settings Required for Automated Excise Taxes

  1. Go to SellTreez > Config Page > Taxes

  2. Locate the Custom Tax section towards the bottom.

    If the Excise Tax value is labeled anything other than “Excise Tax,” edit:

    • NameExcise Tax

  3. Once the Custom Tax is added, scroll up to Point of Sale Tax Setup and click 'Edit' to reselect your Tax Label to the new 'Excise Tax' value:

    Note: This will need to be saved for both Medical and Adult Use separately.

  4. Click the green 'Save' and you're all set!

Note:
To use the Automated Excise Tax feature, your excise tax must have the Name and Visible Name set exactly to:
Excise Tax (case-sensitive).

Treez' Automated Tax rates are based off values provided by the State of California.
