What Are Product-Restricted Discounts?
Manual discounts can be restricted to products assigned to one or more Product Collections. If Product Collections are not configured, discounts can still apply to any product.
Examples:
10% Off All House Prerolls
$5 Off Loyalty Reward for Select Cartridges and Extracts
Coupon for 50% Off Any Preroll (Limit 1 per order)
Product Collections require Catalog to be enabled and can be created directly from the Discount Product Collections step during discount setup.

Supported Discount Types
Product Collection restrictions can be used with these manual discount types:
% and $ Line Discounts (excludes Price Adjustments)
Coupons
Loyalty Rewards
New: Coupons can now be applied as a product-restricted line discount. Previously, coupons were only applied at the cart level.
Discount Behavior in POS
When a discount includes Product Collection restrictions, Treez checks the cart for eligible products before allowing the discount to be applied. Discount lists in the POS (line discounts and loyalty rewards) will show indicators to help staff understand how the discount works.
Discount Availability
Cart Status | Result |
Eligible item exists | Discount selectable in list view. |
No eligible items | Discount is grayed out or returns an error when scanned/entered. |
How Item Selection Affects Discount Application
For discounts with Product Collections:
If items are selected in the cart, the discount applies only to the selected items.
All selected items must be eligible for the discount.
If no items are selected, Treez automatically applies the discount to all eligible items in the cart.
1. Items Are Selected
Selected items are highlighted in green in the cart before applying the discount.
Discount applies only to selected items. All selected items must be eligible.
If one or more selected items are not eligible, the discount will not apply.
2. No Items Are Selected (Recommended)
Treez applies the discount to eligible items automatically.
π‘ Tip: Staff should generally avoid pre-selecting items unless they need to apply the discount to specific products.
Limit How Many Items Receive the Discount
Use the Redemption Item Limit discount condition to control how many eligible items can receive the discount per transaction.
Example:
50% off any preroll
5 eligible prerolls in cart
Redemption Item Limit = 1
Only one preroll receives the discount.
The configuration Apply Discount to Higher Priced Items determines whether the highest- or lowest-priced eligible item gets discounted. This setting can be found in Configuration β Config Page β Discounts and Rewards.
Workflow Example Scenarios

Cart contains:
Edibles
Prerolls

Example 2: Mixed Item Selection
Action: Cashier selects both an edible and a preroll before applying the discount.
