Although ACH payments can fail due to insufficient funds, there is a good chance of recovering a failed payment by retrying it at the right time (i.e. when a customer has sufficient balance).

Manually retrying these returns can increase your workload and you may often not be aware of whether the customer has sufficient funds in their bank account so as to ensure a successful payment.

Using machine learning, Smart retries chooses the most appropriate time to retry a failed ACH and increases the chance of a successful payment.

You can still choose to manually retry a payment at any time by going to the “Failed Transactions” page in your TreezPay dashboard and clicking on “Retry” against the transaction.

However, using smart retry means that you are able to rely on Treezpay to find the best time to retry your ACH transaction.

Note: ACH smart retries aren’t supported for any return code other than an R01.
