NOTE: Rewards can either be configured to apply as a Discount or Payment method. If you have Rewards as a Payment enabled, Rewards totals will be reflected in the Payment Report. If you have Rewards as a Discount enabled, Rewards totals will be reflected in the Discount Report. To enable Rewards as a Discount, just contact us at [email protected] and we’ll help you get set up.

With Rewards configured as a Discount, rewards will act as a cart discount which is spread evenly across all line items in a customer’s cart. There are two ways you can use rewards dollars to discount a purchase:

  1. From the cart view by tapping the Discount button

  2. From the payments screen using the Target Total feature

Regardless of which method is used, the "redeemed rewards" amount will appear on the customer’s receipt below the “Total Discounts” line, and in the cart alongside other discounts.

Tip: If your shop is configured to display a reduced discount list, you’ll need to click the discount amount to show the full details of the discount in the cart.

Redeem from the Cart

Like other standard POS discounts, rewards dollars can be applied to an order from the cart view of SellTreez by clicking on the Discount button. Accrued rewards dollars can be seen in the upper left-hand corner of the screen (alongside other customer information) and above the rewards dollars keypad.

Step 1: Add items to a customer’s cart until the customer is ready to checkout.

Step 2: Tap Discount > Rewards Dollars to open the rewards keypad.

Step 3: Enter the amount of rewards the customer would like to use towards the purchase and tap Apply or select Use All Rewards Dollars.

  • If Use All Rewards Dollars is clicked, then the amount equal to the subtotal will be applied. For example, if a customer has accrued $100 in rewards dollars and the purchase is $60, then only $60 in rewards will be applied and $40 will remain on their account. Alternatively, if the same customer’s purchase is $110, then $100 in rewards will be applied and none will remain on their account.

Step 4: Once the rewards discount has been applied, a notation will appear in the ‘Discount’ column next to each line item in the cart. Clicking the X next to any of the line items will remove the rewards discount from every item simultaneously.

Tip: If your shop is configured to display a reduced discount list, you’ll need to click the discount amount to show the full details. Then, hit the ‘X’ next to the discount you’d like to delete.

  • If removed, the amount will immediately be returned to the customer’s "rewards bank”

NOTE: Any time you add or remove items in the cart after the rewards discount has been applied, Sell Treez will retain and redistribute the same amount of rewards, so the discount is still evenly spread across all line items.

Redeem from the Payments Screen

From the payments screen of SellTreez, cashiers can discount a customer’s order total by redeeming their Reward Dollars with the Target Total feature. Similar to the way fixed price POS discounts work, redeeming rewards from the payments screen allows you to choose a specific Grand Total (aka a “target total”) for the order.

For example, if the Grand Total is $120.87, entering a “Target Total” of $100.00 would apply $20.87 in rewards to the order.

Step 1: Add all desired items to a customer’s cart and tap Checkout.

Step 2: Click the Target Total button to the right of the Rewards Dollars to open the Target Total dialog box.

Step 3: Enter the customer’s target amount into the ‘Target Total’ field and click Apply Reward Dollars.

Step 4: Once rewards have been applied, the balance owed will update to reflect the amount you set as your Target Total. The Rewards Dollars section will also update. It displays the ‘Amount Applied’ which will be removed from the customer’s rewards balance, and what the customer’s ‘Remaining Balance’ of rewards dollars will be after this transaction.

If you want to remove the rewards you’ve applied using Target Total, you can easily return to the original amount owed by clicking the gray back arrow in the upper left-hand corner of the page. This will take you back to the cart screen with the ability to revert the Target Total.

  • If removed, the amount will immediately be returned to the customer’s “rewards bank”

Step 5: Proceed by processing the payment as usual.
