Arizona Purchasing & Limits Cannabis Compliance Guide

Skip to:

Minimum Age

  • Medical
No age limit. If the patient is under 18, their parent or legal guardian must submit the application and the patient must have a designated caregiver.

  • Adult Use
Consumers must be 21 years of age or older.

Purchase Limit Amounts

  • Medical
Patients are allowed 2.5 ounces or equivalent in a 14-day period.

  • Adult Use
Consumers are allowed 1 ounce or equivalent. Of the 1-ounce total limit, no more than 5 grams may be in the form of concentrate. All items except flower and pre-rolls are considered concentrated. (Technically, the statutes do not define the time period in which a customer may purchase their 1 ounce.)

Arizona allows patients to purchase under separate purchase limits. Meaning, if a patient has reached their medical limit, they are also allowed to purchase up to the maximum adult-use limit.

Equivalency Calculation

Purchase limits are calculated off of the ‘Total Flower Weight’ field on the Product card. This field is filled out using different figures depending on the product category.

  • Flower: grams of flower in product

  • Pre-roll: grams of flower in product

  • Cartridge: grams of extract in product

  • Extract: grams of extract in product

  • Edible: milligrams of THC in product, expressed in grams (Example: 250 mg of THC = 0.25 g Total Flower Weight)

  • Beverage: milligrams of THC in product, expressed in grams

  • Topical: milligrams of THC in product, expressed in grams

  • Tincture: milligrams of THC in product, expressed in grams

  • Pill: milligrams of THC in product, expressed in grams

Medical Reciprocity

Arizona offers limited reciprocity to ‘visiting qualifying patients'. They do not allow out-of-state medical patients to purchase from Medical dispensaries, as they don’t exist in the required state verification system. However, if the patient isn’t a resident of AZ, has been diagnosed with a qualifying condition, and possesses a medical card from another state, they are permitted to possess and consume cannabis.

If the patient is over 21, they can purchase, possess, and consume cannabis as an Adult Use consumer.

  • Medical Patients can buy all Products (Med and Rec Inventory Type.

  • Rec Patients can buy all products Except Edibles over 100MG and are limited to 28G a day, MAX 5G (edibles and concentrates).
