Create and Manage Automated Product Collections

Written by Treez Support

Automated Product Collections use catalog criteria to automatically group qualifying products. Any new products that meet the rules will automatically be added, saving you time and ensuring accuracy.

How Automated Product Collections Work

Automated collections evaluate products against the rules you configure:

  • Inclusion Rules define which products can be added to the collection.

  • Exclusion Rules remove products that should not be included, even when they match the inclusion rules.

As products are added or updated in your catalog, Treez reevaluates them and updates the collection based on its current rules.

How Collection Rules Work

The final collection is determined by the following logic:

Final eligible products = Products matching all inclusion rules − Products matching any exclusion rule − Manually excluded products

The collection builder displays AND and OR indicators to show how the rules are evaluated.

Inclusion Rules Use AND

Products must match every configured inclusion rule to qualify for the collection.

For example, if the inclusion rules specify:

  • Category is Edible

    AND

  • Brand is Brand123 OR BrandXYZ

    AND

  • Price is greater than $20

Only products matching all three rules are included.

Exclusion Rules Use OR 🆕

A qualifying product is excluded if it matches any configured exclusion rule.

For example, if the exclusion rules specify:

  • SKU Type is “Sample” OR "Display"

    OR

  • Price is less than $25

A product is excluded if its SKU Type is “Sample”, "Display" or its price is less than $25.

It does not need to match every exclusion rule to be removed.

Manual Exclusions

You can also manually exclude individual products by selecting the checkbox on the left of each product that appear in the list. A manually excluded product will not appear in the final collection, even when it matches all inclusion rules and does not match an automated exclusion rule.

Available Rule Filters

Automated Product Collections support include and exclude filters such as:

  • Product category

  • Subcategory

  • Brand

  • Product Attributes

  • Amount and Unit of Measure (UOM) / Size

  • SKU Type

  • Price (Exact Price, Price Range, Price Tier) 🆕

  • SKU Name 🆕

The available options shown may depend on the selected product category.

How does the new Price filter work?

The Price filter can be used as either an inclusion rule or an exclusion rule. It supports:

  • Exact prices

  • Minimum and/or maximum price ranges

  • Price tiers

These options can be combined within the same Price rule. A product only needs to match one configured exact price, range, or price tier to satisfy the rule.

For example, if a Price rule includes $20, $25, $30–$50, and the Premium price tier, a product matches if it meets any one of those criteria.

The filter evaluates the default prices across all variant SKUs. Products with a matching default variant price are returned in the eligible product list.

A store icon appears next to eligible products that have custom store prices. These custom prices may fall outside the configured price rules because collection eligibility is based on the default price, not custom store pricing.

How does the new SKU Name filter work?

The SKU Name filter can be used as either an inclusion rule or an exclusion rule.

Enter one or more names or phrases, and Treez checks for a case-insensitive, contiguous match within each product’s SKU Name.

For example, “Live Resin” matches “Blue Dream Live Resin Cartridge” and “Live Resin Disposable,” but not “Live Rosin Cartridge” or "Live Premium Resin Cartridge".

If multiple values are entered, a product only needs to match one of them. When used with another inclusion rule, such as Brand, the product must satisfy both rules.

Create an Automated Product Collection

  1. Navigate to Catalog → Collections

  2. Create a new collection by selecting Add Collection or copy an existing automated collection

  3. Enter the collection name

  4. Select a specific category or leave as Global to target all products

  5. Under Product Rules to Include or Exclude, select a product filter type from the dropdown

  6. To the right of the dropdown, enter the criteria value for the selected filter type

  7. The eligible product list will update automatically

  8. Add additional rules or manually exclude products from the product list as needed

  9. Review the matching products

  10. Select Save.

The collection can now be assigned to a discount if needed. Treez will automatically maintain the collection as matching products are added to or updated in your catalog.

Important Considerations

Updating an automated collection may change which products qualify for discounts or promotions that use the collection. Review connected discounts and the resulting product eligibility before making significant rule changes.
