Question:
How should I record display sample units in METRC and Treez?
Answer:
CA ONLY
California requires Trade Samples provided to an employee be marked out of inventory with an adjustment using the METRC adjustment reason "Trade Sample". CA also requires that a note is attached to the adjustment with the employee's name and/or employee number and the date the trade sample was physically handed to the employee. Trade Samples should not be "sold" to an employee through a POS transaction.
To perform an Inventory Adjustment for a Trade Sample:
Navigate to Inventory > Inventory Management > Inventory Adjustment
Search for the Trade Sample package
Enter the new total number of units on hand, being sure to reduce the quantity by the number of units of Trade Samples being given to the employee in the "Total Counted" field.
The "Adj" column will update when you click out of the "Total Counted" field and should reflect the number of units being given to the employee.
Click the blue "Review Changes" button at the bottom right of the screen.
Select "Trade Sample" from the Reason drop down menu.
Click the "Notes" icon ()
In the notes box, enter the required information in the box. Ensure the note does not exceed 200 characters as that is the METRC character limit for adjustment notes.
The adjustment note must include the name or licensee-assigned employee number of the employee and the date and time the cannabis and cannabis products were provided to the employee.
Click the blue "Submit to "Treez & Metrc" button in the bottom right of the screen.
