FAQ

What are "sibling tags"?

A "sibling tags" are multiple packages created from the same METRC source package and sometimes referred to as "Child tags". Typically Retail ID QR codes are generated from on a source package at the packaging, processing or distribution facility before that package is broken down into sibling packages and transferred to retail licenses. If the sibling packages are not explicitly scanned and associated to its respective package tag, the source packages Retail ID QR codes are linked to each sibling tag. When importing Retail ID QR codes for packages with unassociated sibling tags, all of the source packages Retail ID QR codes will be imported to the first sibling tag received by a license in Treez.

What happens if my Retail ID QR codes are associated with multiple "sibling tags" in METRC?

When creating Retail ID QR Codes for a METRC source package without explicitly scanning and associating them before sending them to retail, its important to understand that the METRC API will return all associated QR codes and the package tags they might be associated with. This means that a Retail ID QR code might be associated with more than one package tag. If more than one of the associated package tags are received at retail without an explicitly association, they will only be imported to a single package tag in Treez as all Retail ID Codes must be associated with a unique tag. Treez will typically import these into the first matching package we find on any single invoice. All other package on the invoice will not be associated with a Retail ID QR code automatically.

Why does a different package from the same source package ring up at POS when I can a Retail ID QR code?

This can happen when the Retail ID QR codes are associated with multiple "sibling tags" in METRC and were not explicitly scanned and associated with a specific package. The product ringing up is likely the first package received into Treez associated with that QR Code.

You can correct this by reassigning the Retail ID inventory barcode.

How do I prevent the sibling package issue?

You can prevent the sibling package issue by Scanning and Associating your Retail ID QR codes to the specific Package tag they belong to on the Product Labels tab in METRC prior to receiving the package in Treez or as your vendor to explicitly associate the Retail ID QR codes to the respective package(s) they are sending to your license.

Error

Description

Resolution

QR Codes already associated with a different package

This error indicates that the QR codes returned for the scanned Retail ID have already been assigned to a different package. This happens when there are multiple sibling packages associated with the Retail ID code.

To resolve this, you will need to reassign the Retail ID codes you received for this package by manually adding them as inventory barcodes. You will be prompted to reassign the Inventory Barcodes to the new product.

Optionally, you may choose to print labels for this package instead of reassigning the Retail ID QR codes as inventory barcodes.

To prevent this in in the future, ensure that you or your vendor is associating the Retail ID codes with each package explicitly before importing into Treez.

No packages were found for specified QR code

This error indicates that no packages where returned via the Retail ID API for the scanned QR code.

Ensure that the QR code scanned into the SYNC QR CODE input box is showing accurately. You can double check by scanning the QR code into a program such as Windows Notepad to ensure there are no unexpected characters scanned in. You may then copy and paste the scanned QR code, including the entire Retail ID URL into the SYNC QR CODE input box. If you are still having trouble, please contact us or METRC support to ensure that QR codes should be returning for this Retail ID.

QR Code must be a valid URL

This error indicates that what was scanned into the SYNC QR CODE input box was not a complete or valid URL. Retail ID QR codes are complete, valid URL's

Example: https://1a4.com/AbC123

Try scanning the Retail ID QR code again. If you are still getting the same error message, try scanning the QR code into a program such as Windows Notepad to view what is being returned by the scan. You may then copy and paste the scanned QR code, including the entire Retail ID URL into the SYNC QR CODE input box.

None of the package son this Invoice are associated with the specified QR code

This error indicates that the Retail ID API response received for this QR code did not indicate any packages found on this invoice.

Ensure that you have imported the package on the current invoice.
