In Michigan, medical provisioning centers are allowed to transfer up to 50% of each product type to an adult-use retailer with the same ownership and in the same location. All inventory transferred must have passing test results in METRC, adhere to the maximum THC limits for adult-use products, and have been in the provisioning center’s possession for at least 30 days before the transfer. These transfers do not have a price associated with them and exist for medical licensees to transfer inventory to their adult-use license, which makes the items sellable to adult-use customers.

At a high level, this process entails performing a transfer in METRC of the medical inventory from your Medical license to your Adult-Use license. Once the transfer is accepted by your Adult-Use license, you’ll repackage the inventory under a new Adult-Use package tag. Then, the now adult-use inventory will be invoiced into Treez. If the inventory has already been invoiced, it’ll need to be returned before performing the transfer.

NOTE: If the inventory you’re transferring hasn’t yet been invoiced in Treez, skip ahead to the ‘Transferring Packages from Medical to Adult-Use Licenses’ section.

Because the inventory you’re transferring has already been invoiced in Treez, you’ll need to first remove the medical inventory from the Treez portal. That way, you’ll be able to re-invoice the inventory as adult-use under your AU license and ensure that all sales/adjustments are associated with the proper license going forward.

Step 1: Navigate to Inventory > Inventory Management > Inventory Control and identify the package from which you’d like to transfer inventory from the medical license to the adult-use license.

NOTE: To save time later, copy and note the package label number which you’ll need to reference in the next section. If you’re transferring multiple packages, recording these in a spreadsheet can help you keep track of the package labels.

NOTE: We recommend transferring the entire package, which greatly simplifies this process. If you’re only transferring a part of the package or have already made sales from the package, you’ll need to split out the units you’d like to transfer into a new Treez batch and split the corresponding units into a new package in METRC before beginning this process.

Step 2: Check the box on the package’s row, then click Return on the bottom action bar.

Step 3: Select a reason for the return, add optional notes, click Return to Distributor.

NOTE: If you haven’t added a standard reason for this type of transfer yet (e.g. ‘Transfer from Medical to Adult-Use’), navigate to Configurations > Config Page > List Management > Adjustment Reasons > + Add New Reason.

Repeat these steps for any packages you wish to reassociate with your AU license. Continue by transferring the inventory from one license to the other in METRC by following the steps in the ‘Transferring Packages from Medical to Adult-Use Licenses’ section below.

Step 1: Navigate to Inventory > Inventory Management > Inventory Control and identify the package you’re transferring and copy its package label.

NOTE: We recommend transferring the entire package, which greatly simplifies this process. If you’re only transferring a part of the package or have already made sales from the package, you’ll need to split out the units you’d like to transfer into a new Treez batch and split the corresponding units into a new package in METRC before beginning this process.

Step 2: Navigate to METRC, log-in, and select your Medical license from the license selection dropdown in the upper right-hand corner.

Step 3: Tap Transfers > Outgoing > New Transfer button.

Step 4: In the 'Destination #1' field, enter your Adult Use license number.

Step 5: In the ‘Type’ dropdown, select PC to Retailer Med to AU.

Step 6: Because the inventory isn’t technically being transported, in the ‘Transport #1’ section, enter:

Step 7: In the ‘Package #1’ section, paste the package label number that you copied from Inventory Control and enter the Gross Weight to be transferred and its unit of measure.

If you’d like to transfer more than package at a time, click the + (package) button and fill out the package’s details.

Step 8: Click Register Transfer.

NOTE: If your Adult-Use license hasn’t carried this product before, you need to create the Item in METRC before proceeding with the next steps.

Step 9: Select the Adult Use license the inventory was transferred to from the license selection dropdown in the upper right-hand corner.

Step 10: Click Transfers > Incoming.

Step 11: Identify the appropriate transfer from the list and click Receive on the far right-hand side of the transfer’s row.

Step 12: In the ‘Room’ field, enter the location you’d like the new inventory to be received into.

Step 13: Click Receive Transfer.

Step 14: Navigate to Packages > Active and identify the transferred package from the list.

Step 15: Select the package by clicking on it so it’s highlighted orange and tap New Packages.

Step 16: In the ‘New Tag’ field, select an unused package tag from your Adult Use license.

Step 17: Complete the remaining package details.

Step 18: Click Create Packages.

Once the inventory has been transferred to your adult-use license in METRC, the final step is to re-invoice the adult-use packages in Treez.
